Used these GU10 3W MiniSun SMD jobbies are they are SO much better than the older multi LED bulbs that we have here at work. Very impressed.

They also do 5W or 5.5W items if you need a brighter light.

I have a bank of 6 on the landing and left 3 as halogen and the 3 next to them replaced with the 3W SMD to do a direct comparison. The halogen created more of a spot light ring on the carpet but the LED are more dispersed so no definite ring of light to be seen. They are a warm glow as well so not a sterile white look like I've seen some of the older LED's used to be.

I have a Lumen light reader at work that we use so I took it home to check the Lumens ratings. At 1m from floor level the halogens had readings of up to 700 directly under the bulb but petered out to around 150/170 away from the spot directly beneath. The SMD's read a constant 300/350 in all areas. Not the 420 rating they claim, but I guess manufacturers must take readings a lot closer to the bulb.

For me they are in areas of the house that don't require a dimmer but only downside of these for your application is they are not dimmable.
