  • Brazing
  • Carburizing
  • Hardening
  • Sintering
  • Surface Treatments
  • Tempering

1.2 Specialized Process

1.2.1 Vacuum Aluminum Brazing Furnaces

Brazing is a metal-joining process in which two or more metal items are joined together by melting and flowing a filler metal into the joint. Vacuum brazing is a specialized brazing process performed in a vacuum furnace due to these benefits:

  • Oxidation Prevention
  • Uniform Heating
  • No Flux Needed
  • Improved Mechanical Properties
  • Complex Assemblies
  • High Purity
  • Tempering

IPSEN&#;s vacuum aluminum brazing furnaces have individually controlled heating elements that encircle the work zone. This design minimizes cycle times and ensures precise, uniform heating of the workload. The seamless heating elements prevent resistance buildup and eliminate hot spots.

1.2.2 Solution Nitriding (SolNit®)

SolNit is a thermo-chemical heat treatment process akin to case hardening, but it employs nitrogen rather than carbon as the alloying agent. Utilizing vacuum furnaces equipped with high-pressure gas quenching, this process nitrides stainless steel, enabling the hardening of low-grade stainless steel for a wide range of applications, including surgical instruments and household appliances.

1.2.3 Vacuum Carburizing with Acetylene (AvaC®)

Our exclusive Vacuum Carburizing with Acetylene (AvaC®) process leverages acetylene to almost eliminate the soot and tar issues typically associated with propane. This method significantly enhances carburizing efficiency, even for blind or through holes, and guarantees uniform carburizing for components with intricate shapes and high load densities.

1.2.4 Aluminum Ion Vapor Deposition (IVD)

Ion Vapor Deposition (IVD) is a technique for applying pure aluminum coatings to components for corrosion protection. This process is carried out in a vacuum environment to prevent oxygen and water vapor contamination.

1.2.5 Debinding and Sintering

Vacuum debinding and sintering are processes used for powdered metal parts, MIM components, 3D metal printing, and beading applications. Parts are heated to the binding agent&#;s vaporization temperature and held at this level until all the binding agent&#;s outgassing is complete. Then, after the debinding process is completed, the following process is when the temperature is increased to the sintering temperature of the base alloy and held to ensure solid-state part diffusion occurs. In IPSEN Furnace, both of these processes can be done in 1 furnace without the need for having 2 furnaces.
