Most dangerous, and most important is the fact that the sections of this bed come loose as the bed is being transported. There is no warning on the bed to alert you this might happen. You would think that an electric bed would be stationary unless prompted to move electronically. But, when being transported at a certain angle, the various sections of the base of the can come flying off on top of whoever is moving it. And this is exactly what happened to my neighbor who was helping me to bring the bed inside my place. At the very least, the manufacturer should have strapped the loose sections in place with devices that could be removed when the bed is in its final destination. My neighbor received a serious injury and had to spend months recuperating.
The hardness of the mattress presents yet another danger. Since there is no way anyone can sleep on that hard-as-a-rock mattress, we were forced to buy a topper. Only problem is that there is no topper that corresponds to the unique size of this bed. We considered buying a completely new mattress, but they don't make mattresses that fit on this frame either. So, we tried using a topper that was slightly oversize, and an oversized pad to hold it down. What we didn't realize was that this creates a soft overhang on the side of the bed, a safety hazard which caused my mom to slip and fall off the bed and fracture her 12T.
So far... Two serious accidents associated with this bed. The only reason I'm giving it two stars instead of one is because, once you learn how to position the sections to care for the patient, it works really well and is very convenient. But even that... I had to learn from a nurse. There are NO instructions or guides that come with this bed.
If you don't live in a private home, you should also know that the trucker will delivery it to the door of your building and no further. He will dump the bed in a hard, 3 inch thick wooden crate in front of the door and make you sign a whole bunch of papers which you will not have time to read because you'll be in a hurry to get rid that crate in front of the building. Luckily, there was a custodian nearby whom I gave $30 to break it down and carry away.
